Management Team

Rafael is the firm’s founder, Managing Member and Head of our Tax Division with more than 20 years of experience in public accounting. Rafael has assisted national and global clients in a variety of industries such as Manufacturing, Pharma, Services, Distribution, Retail, Banking, Insurance and Not-For-Profit entities, among others. Some of Rafael’s clients throughout the years have been Microsoft Corporation, HP, Walgreens, Total Petroleum, Cardinal Health, and Wells Fargo, among many others.  Over the last few years, Rafael has developed a unique expertise assisting clients in structuring the migration of businesses to take advantage of the various tax incentives laws available in Puerto Rico, with specific emphasis on Act 60. As part of this process, Rafael advises clients in structuring operations in Puerto Rico in a tax efficient manner taking into account Puerto Rico and US tax rules and regulations. 

Rafael has advised medium and large entities in complex tax matters such as mergers and acquisitions, tax structuring of inbound and outbound investments, and several local and international tax matters  Rafael also has extensive experience in the preparation of municipal, state and federal income tax returns for both, individual and corporate clients. Prior to founding ClearPath, Rafael worked for over 10 years in the tax department of major international firms such as E & Y, KPMG and BDO.  Rafael has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a Juris Doctor’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras. Rafael also holds a Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts and is also a Certified Public Accountant.
